Why SMART FITTness?

First and foremost it is a science-based conditioning program that works. When you combine mental conditioning, solid nutrition, and a time-efficient exercise program and you have a winning combination.

SMART FITTness utilizes two acronyms. The first is a goal setting acronym – SMART: Specific, Measurable, Action-Oriented, Realistic, and Tangible. The second acronym addresses the four essential components of exercise programming – FITT: Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type.

The premise of SMART FITTness is that you must first condition the mind before your body will follow. You can have the best nutritional plan and exercise routine in the world however if you do not follow them on a regular basis they are of little use.

When you ask people what percent of someone’s success is mental most people will tell you over fifty percent. Some will say eighty; even ninety percent of one’s success depends largely on one’s mental state. Yet what percent of someone’s training time do they typically spend conditioning their minds? On average I would say less than ten percent. There’s a disconnect here…

What if you committed to daily, or even twice daily mental practice? Imagine the kind of success you could achieve. Now combine that mental conditioning with nutritious whole foods and regular physical activity. Now you can win.

My philosophy is this: Life is a game and we are all athletes: academics, business or sports we all compete at some level. Being fit allows us to compete at our best, making the most of our lives.
